World Championships 2014

Rubin Williams
Track and Field
  San Jose, CA

Hello – My name is Rubin Williams and I am a 100 and 200 meter track and field sprinter.  I am currently training to compete in the 2013 Track and Field World Championships.

My lifelong goal has been to represent the United States and become the best in the world. Last year I missed making the Olympic 2012 team. I am now training to qualify for the 2013 Track and Field World Championships.  I have been told that at 29 years of age I am too old to achieve this goal but I believe in myself, my success, my training, and my coaches. I am driven every day by my goals. I am doing the little things it takes to reach them, and with the support of the team behind me I can make this happen.

I’ve dedicated my life to this sport and have achieved great success as a collegiate athlete at the University of Tennessee.  My experiences and success in life have enabled me to grow as a leader and an overall person. My belief in myself and my faith in God has given me the strength to persevere through adversity and to be grateful for the many blessings that I have in life.

I am trying to raise $15,000, to support my effort to dedicate and focus 100% of my time on training. To have the best opportunity for success at reaching my dream I must focus 100% of my time on training, competing, and keeping my body healthy as I prepare for the Moscow Games in August 2013. With your financial assistance and the opportunity to dedicate 100% to training I can make this dream come true.

Since I was in the 6th grade, I’ve dreamed of being an Olympian and great track athlete. I’ve been running track for my whole life — that’s over 10,000 hours of training to master my craft in track.
I’m a 17-time All-American at the University of Tennessee and a NCAA national champion in the indoor 200 meter dash. I also hold multiple records at the University of Tennessee where athletes like Justin Gatlin and Willie Gault attended.

I have spent over $17,000 of my own funds while working a full time job during my training. This made it difficult for me to train at the level I needed to to become a top sprinter in the World. My counterparts on the other hand were able to totally dedicate themselves to training and concentrate on running. I refuse however to be derailed no matter what obstacles I may have to overcome.  I am reaching out to you for your support.

I am proud and humbled by my life and what track has allowed me to do. In late 2011 I was nominated to the Pan-American team that competed in Mexico where I was able to bring home a bronze medal.

MY 2013 GOAL

My goal is to qualify, compete in the 2013 World Championship in Moscow, Russia and become one of the best in the world.

I’m trying to raise $15,000 to help pay for my expenses over the next year. I’ve decided to focus solely on training and trust in my faith. I will tap into my savings to keep things going but with your help I will secure enough financial support to take me all the way.

I’ve been so blessed! I have the best family, friends and coaching team that have helped and supported me throughout my career. I am a member of USA Track and Field organization which provides access to the Olympic training center in San Diego and Colorado, but because of funding I am not able to take advantage of these resources as much as I would like to.
I don’t currently have an individual financial sponsor and so I’m hoping to fill that financial gap with the help through Rally Me. Your encouragement truly does make a difference as I train, dream and eventually compete for my country.

My goal is totally achievable if you help me spread the word via your personal email, Facebook, Twitter and even word-of-mouth. You can also reach out to Protex Sports Foundation and donate with a 100% tax deduction. The proceeds will further me to reach my dream. Track may be an individual sport but it truly takes a village to create and support a champion’s dream.
